Dr. Thomas Bara of the Interlochen School of the Arts speaking about the
music school in Northern Michigan. He also addressed details to be considered in preparing
for a recital such as the one he presented the previous evening at this church. |

2003 St. Andrew's Cathedral Chapel
A Service of Installation of Chapter Officers was held in the chapel of
the Cathedral of St. Andrew. Various members participated in presenting readings which
were alternated with hymns sung by the assembled guests. Dr. Kent Hill and Dr. Larry
Visser were the organists for the service. Prior to the service there was time to browse
through stacks of used organ music for sale at bargain prices. Proceeds from the sale
benefited our chapter's Endowment Fund. |

- our annual educational outreach to fourth graders from area school. |

2003 St. Jude Catholic Church was our host for a Children's Choir Anthem
Reading Session.
Grand Rapids' own Dolores
Hruby, nationally known for her compositions for children's choirs speaks about the
use of children's choirs in the worship service, and introduces us to some of her music. |

February 2, 2004 At Immanuel Lutheran Church, John Ourensma, formerly a church
musician in Battle Creek, now working for the Dobson Organ Company of Lake City, IA,
presented Conducting from the Console . He also spoke about the
Dobson Organ Company as it celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. |

| March 15, 2004 We
met at La Grave Avenue Christian Reformed Church for a Local Composer Showcase. We
sang through anthems and hymntunes, and heard played some of the organ compositions of
four local composers who are published by major companies. Featured were works of Dolores
Hruby (Children's Anthems), Roy
Hopp, (Hymnody), Raymond Haan
(Choral and Organ) and Dr. Larry
Visser (Choral and Organ). Some publishers also provided free samples of anthems
and/or organ works we sang or heard |

| Friday, May 21, 2004 Grace Episcopal Church was the site of a
festive banquet recognizing the people who have made the Guild happen this year - board
members, program planners, hosts, committee members, etc. This was followed by a Genevan
Psalm Sing, co-sponsored by the Midwest Historical Keyboard Society, with guest
organists Dr. Pamela Ruiter Feenstra from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI,
Dr. Christiaan Teeuwsen from Redeemer University in Ancaster, ON, Canada, Dr. Kiri
Tollaksen of Ann Arbor, MI playing the cornetto, and the Calvin College Alumni Choir under
the direction of Dr. Pearl Shangkuan. |
